Chatham artist Jay Colyer debuts on DJ EZ’s NUVOLVE label with new single ‘Tried’, out 21st May.
Combining a bumping bassline, fragmented diva vocal samples and an emotion-tinged breakdown, ‘Tried’ is a UKG groover that’s simply made for the dancefloor. It follows releases from Hybrid Theory, Hi Top, WZA, MPH, Sampladelic & The Phat Controlla, Smokey Bubblin’ B, Smasher and Tuff Culture as NUVOLVE continues its rapid ascent through the ranks of British dance music.
Hailing from Chatham, Kent, Jay Colyer grew up listening to a mixture of grime, D&B and, his biggest love, UKG. He began DJing and making music from a young age and has since released tracks on Immoral Music and Eight0Eight Records.
Launched last year by DJ EZ and his long-term friend and manager Paul Marini, NUVOLVE has emerged as one of the frontrunners in forward thinking UKG. The new imprint has already harnessed talent from some of the scenes legends such as Todd Edwards, Smokey Bubblin B and Club Asylum right through to up-and-coming future stars like SHOSH, MPH, Sampladelic, The Phat Controlla and Fabian Dubz. The label aims to truly encompass DJ EZ’s love for all forms of electronic music from garage to bass and everything in between.
‘Tried’ is a slamming, bassline-led UKG cut that’s destined to soundtrack countless post-lockdown raves.
